Delete your account

This is an English translation of the Portuguese original, provided so that you can read this page in English. The Portuguese version is the original text, and it settles questions of interpretation — except where the law of your country gives you the right to rely on the version in the language in which you entered into the contract (see section 7 of the Terms of Use) — read the original (Excluir sua conta).

1. From the app

It is the fastest way, and it does not depend on anyone on our side.

Open Epdex and go to the Profile tab.
Under Account, tap Account settings.
Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Delete account, in red.
Confirm in the warning that appears.
If you have not signed in recently, we will ask for your password before completing — to make sure it is you, and not someone who picked up your unlocked device.

Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. There is no grace period and no way to recover the account after confirming. If you want to keep your history, export it first: on the same Account settings screen, under Privacy → Export my data, you receive a file with everything that is yours.

2. If you no longer have access to the app

Uninstalled it, switched devices or lost access to your login? Write to dpo@epdex.app asking for your account to be deleted.

We will need to confirm that the account is yours before deleting anything — not out of bureaucracy, but because deleting someone's data at another person's request would be worse than not deleting it. We explain how to do that confirmation in our reply, and it is always the simplest way possible: we never ask for an identity document as a matter of routine.

We respond within 15 days.

3. What is deleted

Everything that is yours:

Registration — name, handle, e-mail, password and the links to Google or TikTok.
Tracking history, progress and watchlist.
Ratings, reactions and favorite characters.
Lists, recent searches and imports.
Your invite link and your friendships — which also disappear from the lists of whoever was your friend.
Notification tokens and the record of the documents you accepted.

Your sessions are ended immediately, on every device. For accounts with an extensive history, the removal completes in the background right afterwards.

4. What does not go away, and why

Two things, and neither of them identifies you:

Access logs. Epdex is operated by a controller established in Brazil, and Brazilian law requires application providers to keep access logs for six months (art. 15 of the Marco Civil da Internet, Brazil's Internet Civil Framework) — which is why that retention applies to every account, wherever you are. It is not our choice, and we do not use those logs for anything beyond what the law requires.
Aggregate statistics. Numbers like "how many people watched a given series in a given state, in a given week". They hold no identifier that leads back to you and, under art. 12 of the LGPD (Brazil's General Data Protection Law), are not considered personal data.

If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the rights granted by the GDPR and the UK GDPR — among them erasure (art. 17), restriction of processing (art. 18) and objection (art. 21). They do not override the retention of the access logs above, which is a legal obligation, but they cover everything else. The full list is in section 6 of the Privacy Policy.
